MediaCityUK Tour
Wednesday September 28th, we were given an induction tour of Salford University "unique digital learning, teaching and research space" situated at the very heart of MediaCityUK. Starting on October 4th, we will finally have access to 4 floors full of TV/radio studios, digital media labs and audio/video post production suites (Mainly PC suites.. What?!) Hot Rooms(?) and Hero Suites(??). On the inside, everything has been designed to facilitate cross working between courses. Check out the MediaCityUK floor plan or sneak peek photos below.
- Fun fact 1: We will have access to software used to create blockbuster hollywood movies like Avatar (I guess they're talking about Nuke)!
- Fun fact 2: Because of the huge investments they've made into state-of-the-art equipments and for security reasons we are required to carry at all time our student badge if we want to unlock doors and don't want to be kicked out of the building!
- Fun fact 3: There's a ingenious system that will NOT print any of our documents until we are physically in front of any printer of the building. That means we won't have to run anymore after every single one of them trying to understand which one is actually printing our document!
- Fun fact 67: I took pictures during the tour but didn't check them until I came back home... Turns out, most of them are blurry! Here are the sharpest ones:
